＋This stunningly beautiful antique sweetheart brooch is crafted in 15ct Gold, and marked as such on its reverse. It features a shimmering amethyst heart and a glowing citrine heart, both bordered by seed pearls. In Victorian times, this double heart motif symbolised the joining of two lovers. The double hearts are topped with a beautiful crown (which sometimes represented a loving bond, such as marriage) which itself decorated with 7 lustrous seed pearls.
The Brooch measures 2.5cm wide and 2cm long. The amethyst and citrine hearts measure 8mm wide x 7mm length. It weigns a healthy 4.13g.
Amethysts have been viewed through the ages as a stone of peace. Some believe the calming presence of the stone produces soothing dreams. Amethysts have also been thought to have protective, healing, and purifying powers.
